Anybody who’s ever stalked the greeting card aisles at Target will tell you that trying to find a card that doesn’t make you want to gag is the pits. Most greeting cards make “I Choo-Choo-Choose You” look like Chaucer, but such is not the case at Gift Horse. Originally started by Porter Flea co-founder Jessica Maloan as a pop-up shop called Pulp in 2013, Gift Horse has nomadically wandered across East Nashville offering a highly curated batch of books, posters, enamel pins and, yes, greeting cards that don’t make you want to jump off a bridge, largely produced by local artists and creators. And the shop — which recently moved into permanent digs at Fatherland after two seasons at Sawtooth Print Shop — has a free play pinball machine, too. What’s not to like? LANCE CONZETT
