Sir Roger Daltrey, one of the most dynamic frontmen in the history of popular music as lead vocalist of The Who, will bring his A Great Night Out! tour to the Ryman Auditorium Sept. 9. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will perform selections from his 10 solo albums, as well as reimagined covers and rarities from The Who catalog. He’ll also share stories from his legendary career. “Well it’s one more for the road,” Daltrey says in a release for the tour. “After finishing The Who’s final tour of the U.S., it’s time for me as a solo artist to possibly do the same.” There’s not much left for the recently knighted Daltrey to accomplish. He’s received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammy Foundation and also Kennedy Center Honors. He’s starred in a number of films, most notably playing the lead in Tommy and Lisztomania. He also authored the acclaimed autobiography Thanks a Lot Mr. Kibblewhite. Daltrey is backed on the tour by guitarists Simon Townshend and Doug Boyle, keyboardist Geraint Watkins, mandolinist Billy Nicholls, violinist Katie Jacoby, harmonica player Steve Weston, bassist John Hogg, drummer Scott Devours and percussionist Jody Linscott. Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Leslie Mendelson opens the show.
