In certain cities, an artist can cultivate an entire career out of making band flyers and posters. Nashville is one of those cities — you have only to look at Hatch Show Print for examples of the enduring legacy of show posters — and Memphis is another one. Alicja Trout is a Memphis musician who is best known for her work with the synth band Lost Sounds, which she started with the late Jay Reatard, and the River City Tanlines. Among her fans is the great Henry Rollins, who has guest-curated this weekend-long exhibition out of a collection of her archives in Wedgewood-Houston gallery RADAR615 — formerly known as Zeitgeist. In a statement, Rollins spoke about the importance of getting archives out of their university settings and in front of the public: “I’ve found that universities are the bottomless vacuum that disappears collections, soon forgets they have them, and by doing so deprives people of the opportunity to see the pieces.” Think of this weekend’s show as an antidote to all those back-to-school photos that have taken over social media. Rollins will be on hand from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday to discuss.
