In June 2025, Sumner County nixed the area’s annual Pride celebration. It wasn’t exactly a surprise. According to the Human Rights Campaign, Tennessee has passed more anti-LGBTQ legislation than any other state over the past decade. But Morgan Karr (better known by his stage name MORGXN) and Gabriel Starner decided they wouldn’t stand idly by and let their rural community miss Pride. The husbands and owners of Fruity Farm saw it as an opportunity to create their own affirming space and to let the community know that they are welcome. On Saturday, their Affirming Sumner Pride event returns with three times as many vendors headed to the 24-acre farm. Known for his time on Broadway in Spring Awakening, singing with Sara Bareilles and his album Heartland, MORGXN will sing a wedding song at the event while Metro Councilmember Olivia Hill officiates a vow renewal. The event will include family-friendly entertainment, live music, food trucks, a farmers market and more. Admission to Affirming Sumner Pride is free, but attendees must register online in advance; they will then receive the farm’s exact address in Bethpage.
