There’s a lot of talk about placemaking these days as city planners try to reactivate and engage public spaces to create community, and the pavilion adjacent to the Shoppes on Fatherland is a good example. Sometimes the flexible event space is bustling with crowds, such as the hordes noshing at the YUM! East fundraiser. Other times, there might be a quiet family picnicking under the shelter (and using the public facilities). Either way, Pavilion East is quickly making its place in the city.
