From “two-plops” and “skyscrapers” to more colorful terms, the colloquialisms for imposing, demolished-ranch-replacing infill homes popping up around Nashville haven’t exactly been meant as compliments. From 12South to East Nashville, residents and developers have been butting heads all year (we ran a cover story back in December), as mailboxes burst with purchase pitches and side-eyed homeowners planted “Build Like You Live Next Door” signs. Some think legislation is needed. Others see dense infill as the answer to our It-City needs. So, can this war of bulldozers and lawn placards be quelled? Hell if we know. But it’s certainly not quieting any time soon.
