Critic's Pick: Tom Morello

Back in the spring, guitarist Tom Morello had to cancel a number of concert dates due to his mother’s failing health, including a date on May 13 at Nashville’s Cannery Hall. When he announced in late June which dates he was able to reschedule, the news was good for his fans in Music City. “Paris! London! Nashville! Milwaukee! We have locked in new dates for my previously postponed shows, I’m excited to come rock with you all soon,” Morello wrote on Instagram. The hard rock legend will bring his Electric Full Band tour to Cannery Hall Friday night and will release his first true solo album, Everyone Gets Everything They Want, a week later on Sept. 25. The album features guest appearances by Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Kneecap, Beartooth and Morello’s son, Roman Morello. Attendees at Friday’s show can expect to hear a couple of songs from the new album, such as the debut single “Soldier in the Army of Love,” as well as material from his work with Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. Recent shows have also included covers of John Lennon’s “Power to the People” and Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad.” The Ike Reilly Assassination will open.
