Paul McCartney at The Pinnacle, 11/6/2025

Back in November — on the very same day that Paul McCartney played a phenomenal, career-spanning show at The Pinnacle in downtown Nashville — the nearby Frist Art Museum opened its exhibit Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64: Eyes of the Storm. The show features a slew of photos taken by McCartney early in The Beatles’ career and recently unearthed — an absolute trove of candid images that make you feel as though you’re right there alongside the Fab Four, experiencing an unprecedented explosion of fame just as they do. The show remains on display until Jan. 26, and this week, the Frist has planned a gallery talk in conjunction with Paul McCartney Photographs. On Saturday afternoon, photographer Lynn Goldsmith and music journalist Ann Powers will conduct Through the Lens and Into the Music, a conversation “exploring the dynamic intersections of music and photography.” Goldsmith’s work has been featured in the pages of Rolling Stone, Time, Vanity Fair and countless others, and NPR Music’s Powers — a Nashville resident — has written for The New York Times and The Village Voice, among many other publications. All that is to say, the two really know their stuff, and this weekend it will be a delight to hear what they have to say about the intersection of music and photography. The event is free, but registration via fristartmuseum.org is required.

1:30 p.m. at the Frist
