Spoken-word artist and entertainment manager Epifany has organized various events blending poetry and spectacle throughout Tennessee. Some standouts include open mics in Clarksville and racy Sin Sundays in Nashville, Smyrna and other spots. On Friday she plans a ball to, in the words of the event page description, “remind artists and audiences alike that poetry deserves grandeur, respect and reverence.” Epifany assembled a roster of four poets from Washington, D.C., Mississippi and elsewhere, each representing an archetype like the grieving but healing Shadow or political-minded Rebel. The flyer calls for formal attire, and an array of ticket options are available at epifanysemagination.com.

7 p.m. at Venue 109

109 Cude Lane, Madison
