Reese-Wynans_

If you’re looking for a show that exemplifies the virtuoso-level musicianship in Music City, the Reese Wynans & Friends show at 3rd and Lindsley Friday night is your ticket. Keyboardist Wynans was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 as a member of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Double Trouble band, and he’s worked with a number of other recording stars in the studio and on tour including Carole King, Boz Scaggs, John Mayall, Jerry Jeff Walker, Delbert McClinton and Joe Bonamassa. His Friends are some of Nashville’s top musicians: guitarist Kenny Greenberg, keyboardist Kevin McKendree, bassist Alison Prestwood and drummer Lynn Williams. Wynans also will be joined by a pair of special guests — vocalist Jonell Mosser and guitarist Yates McKendree. They will be performing songs from Wynans’ 2019 solo album Sweet Release, as well as material from some of the greats he’s backed. “We’ve got like 20 to 23 songs that we’re going to play,” he tells the Scene. “A couple of new songs, a couple of songs from the Stevie Ray Vaughan days, a couple of Delbert songs. Kenny Greenberg is going to do a song, and Jonell is going to sing a Carole King song. Yates is gonna come out and do some … blues stuff.”
