Three accomplished and versatile musicians who’ve backed a host of top bands and artists have joined forces in the new supergroup Lester Winchester McKendree. Their past collaborations and experiences date back to the late ’80s, with stints backing numerous rock, country, blues and pop greats. Rhythm ace Jimmy Lester has been the drummer for Billy Joe Shaver, Los Straitjackets and Webb Wilder. Keyboardist Kevin McKendree has provided sizzling accompaniment for Lee Roy Parnell, Delbert McClinton and Brian Setzer, while Mark Winchester has been a great songwriter, vocalist and bandleader who’s worked with Emmylou Harris and The Planet Rockers as well as Setzer. Earlier this year, this dream rhythm section gathered in McKendree’s Franklin Rock House studio primarily to cut a tremendous collection of Winchester originals, plus two instrumentals. They’ll be performing those songs plus other equally strong numbers as they celebrate the release of their debut album They Got It All Friday night at Eastside Bowl.
