fulton lee

When I need to stop myself from doomscrolling but somehow cannot just put. down. the. phone, I watch Fulton Lee videos on Instagram. Self-described as a “bubblegum funk” artist, Lee makes music by recruiting strangers into his creative process. Nashvillian Lee became a viral favorite for using handwritten signs on street corners with lures such as: “Sit Here If You Can Sing” or “Stand Here if You Had a Bad Day.” For his Sing With Me summer tour, he recruits one singer from each city to join him onstage. In addition, he promises an interactive, collaborative evening of positivity. And while I (introvert alert) absolutely do not want to be called up onstage, I’m looking forward to viewing the community experience from the safety of the audience at The Basement East. It’s an 18-and-up show, although younger fans can attend with a legal guardian.

7 p.m. at The Basement East

917 Woodland St.
