Nashville music fans will have a chance to see one of the greatest singer-songwriters in popular music history July 15 when two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Paul Simon brings his A Quiet Celebration Tour to FirstBank Amphitheater. Simon, who is also a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, has won 16 Grammy awards, including three for Album of the Year — a distinction he shares with Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder. He’s a recipient of Kennedy Center Honors and the inaugural Gershwin Prize for Popular Song presented by the Library of Congress. In 2019, he became the first musician to be presented the Great Americans Medal by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Wednesday’s show will be presented in two parts. In the first part, Simon will perform his 2023 Grammy-nominated album Seven Psalms in its entirety. Then, following a brief intermission, he will return and play a set that includes some of his greatest hits, as well as deep cuts. Simon’s current band includes his wife Edie Brickell (vocals), Mark Stewart (guitar), Gyan Riley (guitar), Bakithi Kumalo (bass), Mick Rossi (keys), Matt Chamberlin (drums), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Andy Snitzer (saxophone), Nancy Stagnitta (flute), Caleb Burhans (viola) and Eugene Friesen (cello).
