Members of The Sewing Club say Saturday will be their “first official Nashville headline show,” which is a surprising milestone for a band that’s been playing the Music City club circuit and touring cross-country with bands like Arlie and chokecherry since 2022. Throughout that time, they’ve released a string of singles and EPs that showcase both dreamy, peppy indie rock (check out “Promise” from The Sewing Club, released in September 2024) and the sort of sludgy shoegaze that bands like Wednesday and Slow Pulp have made so popular (like “Strange,” released just days later). The Blue Room is a heck of a place to mark the occasion, in any case, and concertgoers can expect to hear both sides of the band as well as a handful of unreleased tracks they’ve been saving for this hometown show. Two other Nashville artists kick off the night. Melaina Kol’s upcoming Okay that’s a great idea because if I do that then uses classical instrumentation to create house music sounds that should sound right at home on Jack White’s cerulean stage, while country-tinged rocker Billy! just marked a milestone of his own by playing a Bonnaroo showcase.
