Fingernails-are-Pretty

Femme Foo Fighters tribute band Fingernails Are Pretty will play their final show Friday evening at The Basement East. They will headline a bill that includes two other tribute bands — Take the Power Back, an all-female tribute to Rage Against the Machine, and Business of Misery, a Paramore tribute act. Fingernails Are Pretty is calling it quits in part because drummer Angie Lese and lead guitarist Rachel Brandsness of indie-rock duo Lips Speak Louder plan to relocate to Minneapolis in the spring. Lese founded the group — whose name is taken from a line in Foos song “This Is a Call” — not long after the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022. “I had always wanted to do a female Foo Fighters tribute band,” Lese tells the Scene. “And Taylor Hawkins was always my favorite drummer, so when he died, I knew it was time to finally do that band.” They made their debut at the 2022 Tomato Art Festival and have played one or two shows every year since then. In addition to Lese and Brandsness, the group’s lineup includes rhythm guitarist Mo Schneider, bassist Aly Dellinger and lead vocalist Vera Bloom. A few other singers will sit in with the band on Friday, including Molly Martin, Leilani Kilgore and Monte Mader.
