Best Act of Guerrilla Urbanism in Nashville 2026: To Nashville With Love
Last year, when the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure and the Nashville Downtown Partnership removed the metal benches from Korean Veterans Boulevard and replaced them with allegedly beautifying concrete orbs, they set off a firestorm of DIY woodworking we never could have anticipated. Homemade benches started popping up across town, and each one that was removed seemed to create two more in its place. Through bench-making and painting parties, local group To Nashville With Love gives folks sturdy, beautiful places to sit while they wait for the bus. It’s one of the most successful acts of guerrilla urbanism Nashville has seen, an effective way of standing up for our right to sit down.
Past Best of Nashville wins: In our Writers’ Choice, To Nashville With Love has also been named Best In-Person Benefit Show (2020).
