Best Organized Effort in Nashville 2026: Data Center Pushback

These days it can be hard to find a nonpartisan issue. But there’s at least one topic that has seen overwhelming support from Nashvillians this year: restricting the development of data centers in Davidson County. After a proposal arose this summer to build a data center near the Nashville Zoo, residents from all over the political spectrum vehemently expressed opposition, many of them spending hours waiting in line to speak during various public comment periods. While debate continues over a data center proposal at Fisk University, the Metro Council recently passed strict regulations on the facilities — proof that community organizing works.
