Locally owned pet shop Wags & Whiskers has been a Nashville presence for nearly 15 years, now with three locations — one in East Nashville, one in 12South and another in West Nashville. With healthy products, holistic food options and self-serve dog-washing stations (except at the 12South location), Wags is a friendly and feel-good little alternative to big-box pet stores. The shops are small and mainly geared toward dogs (and to a lesser extent cats), so you’re not going to find food for your exotic bird or a heat lamp for your iguana. But the staff is as sweet as it gets, and dogs are always welcome in the store. D. PATRICK RODGERS
