Best Family-Friendly Brewery

At TailGate’s headquarters on Charlotte Pike, kids aren’t just accommodated — they are downright welcomed. The menu abounds with pizza and pasta, and while there is a kid-specific menu, the youngster is going to be perfectly happy sharing a slice with the ‘rents. (Monday is half-price pie night, bee tee dubs.) Inside, in-house artist Drew Lord’s whimsical cartoon murals are similar to the decor you might find along a Disney World queue (if the Magic Kingdom was beer-themed and if Andre the Giant was a Disney property, which he isn’t … yet). There are plenty of board games to occupy idle hands, and the room is plenty spacious — that’ll keep the progeny away from Mr. I Only Drink Hazy IPAs With Noble Hops and I Can Tell the Difference (he can’t). But out back is the true wonder: acres and acres of open space for kids to run wild, making up games and sports as they are wont to do, wearing themselves out so Mom and Dad can rest peacefully after a boozy afternoon.
