Even knowing their history of collaborations, it’s still surprising to see Bay Area innovator E-40 and gritty Midwest rapper Tech N9ne link up for their Strange Wid’ It Tour. But think on it a bit more and you’ll realize they have plenty in common, chief among them longevity. 40 Water built an enduring and influential foundation of West Coast hip-hop with an eccentric flow and slang in the ’80s, and Tecca Nina hustled through the ’90s before becoming an underground king in the early 2000s thanks to lightning-fast delivery and dark delves into horrorcore. They each stand out as inimitable rap acts who founded their own labels, and both continue to produce new music. Hell, they’re even cousins! Omaha’s King Iso supports. Go there, go dumb, and get weird.
