Lindsay Lou will be making her hard-earned Opry debut Friday night as she honors all women in bluegrass. Commonly dubbed the “Queen of Festivals,” the Michigan native is known for her intently traditional and sincere voice, backed by a plucky army of quick strings. She’s releasing a new album, Bluegrass Women, on Aug. 14 along with a four-part mini-documentary, forging a major cultural imprint. The album credits are stacked with some of the most impressive female voices in bluegrass today — including Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull and Sarah Jarosz — highlighting the essential role women have played in the historically male-dominated genre. As she notes, most people don’t realize how many of their favorite bluegrass tunes were written by women. And now is the time to show ’em! Friday, she’ll be performing with her Honey Moon Trio as they continue to make sweet, sweet musical history. Country duo Wilson Fairchild and country-rock vet Brantley Gilbert will also be taking the stage Friday night.
