The rugby scene in Nashville is on the rise, which is why Major League Rugby chose Geodis Park to host a showdown between Eastern Conference rivals the Chicago Hounds and the New England Free Jacks on Sunday. The inaugural Music City Rugby Showdown features the Hounds seeking revenge for last season’s one-point conference finals loss to the three-time defending champion Free Jacks and reigning MVP Paula Balekana. It will be the first non-soccer sporting event hosted at Geodis and the first Major League Rugby match to take place in the state. With Nashville on the short list of potential host cities for both the 2031 Men’s Rugby World Cup and the 2033 Women’s Rugby World Cup, this matchup could be a test for the city’s excitement level.
2 p.m. at Geodis Park
501 Benton Ave.
