Asia Pyron and PYDANCE are back and ready to welcome the Halloween season with Murder of Crows: Ghost Stories. Presented in partnership with Bubblegum Theater Company, this immersive murder mystery experience “invites audiences to uncover the ghostly secrets lurking within the Darkhorse Theater.” Local dance and theater lovers may remember the original Murder of Crows, which first premiered at the Welcome to 1979 recording studio as part of the 2024 Kindling Arts Festival. As with that thoroughly engaging piece, this edition is set to music from the French jazz-funk album Troupeau Bleu by Cortex. And while the storyline is quite different from the original, Ghost Stories captures much of the same dark humor and movement-driven character dialogue. Drawing from iconic mystery and horror motifs — think Alfred Hitchcock, The Twilight Zone and American Horror Story — Ghost Stories blends contemporary dance, physical theater and immersive storytelling into one haunting theatrical experience. Audiences will move about the theater alongside a restless group of ghosts, “searching for answers about how they died — and why they remain trapped within its walls.” The cast includes a number of familiar faces, including Porter Colt, Spencer Grady, McKay House, Emma Morrison and Saùl Rodriguez.
Oct. 23-24 at the Darkhorse Theater
4610 Charlotte Ave.
