Critic's Pick: Josh Johnson’s Comedy Band Camp

There are a lot of hardworking comedians on the road, but I bet there’s just one who’s also made a personality test to sort you into a camping troop based on which wild animal you’d talk to first, if given the ability. Josh Johnson, the constantly touring comic who first rose to mass attention as a correspondent on The Daily Show in 2024, is coming through Nashville with his Comedy Band Camp at the Ryman. Nashville’s only the third city on the tour, so details on what to expect aren’t entirely clear — outside of press materials promising “a comedy music experience.” Johnson is a prolific comic who’s always working with new material, and the Ryman is the perfect place for him to be joined by whatever marching bands he has up his sleeve. Whether or not roasted marshmallows will be provided has not yet been confirmed.
