Nearly six weeks after January’s historic ice storm, Cheekwood Estate & Gardens officially reopens on Saturday with its always popular Cheekwood in Bloom. This year’s festival holds special meaning, as the colorful garden designs honor the nation’s 250th anniversary with 250,000 blooming bulbs. Dubbed Red, White & Blooms, the display will feature red and white tulips and purple-blue hyacinths and violas, as well as a vibrant display of yellow and white daffodils. Guests can stroll the grounds, enjoying live music or perhaps grabbing a delicious bite from one of the food trucks. There will be plenty of children’s activities, along with adult education programs and workshops, plus a number of intriguing art exhibitions — including Common Ground: The Hainsworth Collection in Conversation With Cheekwood’s Permanent Collection and An American Story: Paintings From the Parthenon’s Cowan Collection. And be sure to keep an eye out for other upcoming events, such as Math in Bloom, a unique celebration of Pi Day on March 14; Holi, the Indian Festival of Colors on March 28; and the Great Spring Art Hop on April 3 and 4.
