Carnton Plantation — a farm-turned-field-hospital during the bloody Battle of Franklin — is engaging all on its own, but it comes to life during Blue & Gray Days, when re-enactors take over the property, giving visitors a glimpse into life during the Civil War. Mingle with Confederate soldiers, learn the art of wet-plate photography, explore the weaponry of battle and even shake hands with President Lincoln. And if you’re lucky, he’ll autograph a copy of the Gettysburg Address for you! NANCY FLOYD
