Best Day Hike for Kids

Less than two hours from Nashville, Foster Falls is a perfect day trip, especially on blazingly hot summer days when the refreshingly cool water at the base of the 60-foot waterfall beckons visitors to splash and swim. The overlook is steps from the parking lot, and the hike down to the gorge is less than a mile. A suspension bridge awaits at the bottom, along with a small rocky beach and a swimming hole, so bring a cooler and some hammocks and stay awhile. NANCY FLOYD
