Best Family-Friendly Festival

Every April, Public Square Park is transformed into a miniature Japan. Traditional Japanese food, art, crafts and live entertainment provide children (and adults) with a fun introduction to Japanese culture. But the real treat for kids is enjoying the dozens of cartoon characters that cosplay contestants bring to life. These often colorful and elaborate anime-style costumes delight and thrill children, and the contestants graciously pose for photos with their new adoring fans. LESLEY LASSITER
