Actress-singer-writer Cori Laemmel’s lovingly crafted story of childhood isolation is inspired by the struggles of youngsters with autism and reflects a keen empathy with young emotions and peer-group issues. Her play was enacted with precocious poise and sensitivity by a large cast ages 6-17, drawn from Laemmel’s Theater Bug training program in East Nashville. Performances gained interest from educators and arts programmers — but also proved to be simply (and poignantly) entertaining.
