Ghastly Mike Hackenslash and Jesse Boo
Now that October is here and the air is finally getting crisp, it's time for Boo Dudes, Nashylvania’s skeletonweight champions of Halloween, to be painting the town red. But apparently they've opted for a black-and-white checkerboard pattern instead. The full version of Ska Ska Skary, the Dudes', um, Skalloween record, hit the web earlier this week.
"How irie," you may be thinking, as you adjust your fedora. "Ska, like the Boo Dudes, is unkillable, and it's about time for there to be a fourth wave. I'll skank to that!"
Alas, this record marks a low point for the band. Ghastly Mike Hackenslash and Jesse Boo got into a legal tussle with undead skate-punk heels Graveyard Guys and came out on the losing end. They've also got to contend with the monkey's-paw provisions of their contract with record wiz "Bloody" Buddy Pearlman, who claims he's the son of late boy band magnate Lou Pearlman (but may in fact be the result of Tom Waits and Captain Ron getting trapped in Seth Brundle's teleportation machine).
Now, Graveyard Guys own the rights to the Boo Dudes' catalog, and they've canceled the release of their prog epic Spookydelica 2045: Echoes of the Resistance (though one song, opening track "Halloween Forever," did leak out). On top of that, Bloody Buddy has exercised his contractual rights to force the Dudes to help him win back the love of his estranged son Aiden ... with the power of spoOOoky ska. Jesse Boo seems to be coping pretty well. It might be a good idea to make a welfare check on Ghastly Mike Hackenslash.
At present, Boo Dudes don't have any dates on the books, but Graveyard Guys have at least three gigs coming up. Come out to The Shadowtones' album release party at Fond Object on Oct. 21, see GGs' headlining set at The East Room on Oct. 25, and you'll hear songs (fast, loud, short ones, many of which are about weed) or to Calvin Johnson's Oct. 29 show at Fond Object from the Guys' new record Dug Up and Danked Out.
Below, take a listen to all the new Boo Dudes and Graveyard Guys material. With the support of their fans, we can hope that the Dudes will get past this bump in the road and get back to making tracks as truly scary as their scare-mericana opus "Friday XIII."

Possesed to shred, decaying head
I'm the fuckin' #THRASHING dead
A dozen eggs aimed at your head
Monster underneath your bead
Your windows broke. Spirits woke
Tons of candy down my throat
[unintelligible hexes]. Skate a board
Inject a needle full of smoke
Dosed on Halloween
Is it trick or is it treat
Skate a haunted cul-de-sac
Graveyard Guys are fukin back
Drop in on a ouija board
[this part of the scroll is missing]
Spooky cauldron full of beer
I’m the fucking guy you fear
Lawyer up it’s goin down
Graveyard guys are back in town
