Damage to Rosemary and Beauty Queen following a fire on Jan. 27, 2024

Popular Five Points bar and restaurant Rosemary & Beauty Queen sustained serious fire damage over the weekend, and now owners are asking for community support.

According to RBQ management, a blaze erupted at the popular East Nashville spot in the early morning hours of Saturday, Jan. 27. Photos posted to the establishment’s social media accounts show severe damage particularly to the building’s back corner and adjacent patio area.

Owners confirm that no one was injured and note that the cause of the blaze is still unknown. From a statement:

… We have a family of around 40 employees who rely on this place to support their own families. We are going to reopen as soon as possible, but we don't know how long it will take. While we figure that out, our first priority is to take care of our staff.

If you are able to give anything at all, 100% of that will go directly to our staff so that they can all be back here to take care of you as soon as we are able to open our doors again.

RBQ co-owner Andrew Mischke has established a GoFundMe campaign for staff support. As of Sunday evening, more than half of the campaign’s $60,000 goal has been met.

Opened by Mischke and his business partner Jim O’Shea roughly seven years ago, Rosemary & Beauty Queen quickly became a popular spot in the heart of East Nashville’s well-known nightlife district Five Points. RBQ is known for its cocktails, extensive outdoor seating options and frequent DJ events.

Just last month, Mischke and O’Shea announced plans to open a supper-club-style establishment by the end of 2024. The as-yet-unnamed outpost will be located nearby at the corner of Russell and South 11th Street.
