The first month of 2026 is nearly over. How are those New Year’s resolutions holding up? Perhaps yours fell by the wayside, or maybe you never really got around to thinking one up. If that’s the case — or hell, even if you want to do something selfless and productive for no particular reason at all — here’s an opportunity to establish some good 2026 vibes. On Saturday, volunteers will gather at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library for the 20th annual Little Harpeth River Cleanup, hosted by Harpeth Conservancy and Brentwood Noon Rotary Club. A 10-mile stretch of Middle Tennessee’s Little Harpeth River will be divided into 12 sections, with volunteer teams splitting up to remove litter and debris from riverbanks. Check-in begins at 8 a.m., and volunteers will be provided with a light breakfast as well as trash bags, safety vests and other cleanup tools. Organizers ask that anyone who’d like to participate sign up via harpethconservancy.org. Here’s your chance to do some good, simply for the sake of doing something good. You won’t regret it.
