Skinny Dennis is hosting a celebration of Bob Dylan’s 85th birthday Sunday evening that will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Billed as The Million Dollar Bob Dylan 85th Birthday Bash, the show will feature more than 30 artists performing songs from across Dylan’s fabled career. Singer-songwriter-guitarist David Newbould was inspired to organize the birthday bash after the success of the Neil Young 80th birthday celebration he spearheaded in October. As they did at the Young birthday show, Newbould’s band — Adam Dalton (guitar), Bear Mitchell (bass), Jeffrey Howell (keys) and Dylan Sevey (drums) — will serve as the house band for the event and be joined by Paul Niehaus on pedal steel. Lisa Oliver-Gray, Jonell Mosser and Ginger Sands will serve as backing vocalists. In addition to Newbould, Dalton, Sevey, Oliver-Gray and Mosser, artists who will take a turn at the mic include Robyn Hitchcock, Emma Swift, Tristen, Grant Lee-Phillips, Tommy Womack, Nicole Atkins, Anana Kaye, Irakli Gabriel, Kevin Gordon, Lera Lynn, Eric Slick, Mike Delevante, Scot Sax, Jon Byrd, Ziona Riley and John Jackson, who played guitar in Dylan’s band from 1991 to 1997. Admission is free, but there will be food donation bins, donation buckets and merch for sale to benefit Second Harvest.
