The only thing better than seeing the bright-blue eyes of Peter O’Toole shine against the sun-soaked backdrop of the Arabian Desert is seeing them on the big screen for the first time. While many film fans have seen the epic Lawrence of Arabia at one point or another, far fewer have had the chance to see David Lean’s 1962 blockbuster in theaters. Fortunately, the Belcourt is giving everyone the opportunity this weekend as part of its Weekend Classics: Beat the Heat series. Showings are taking place all three days this weekend at 11:30 a.m., each with a 10-minute intermission. It may be a long sit at nearly four hours, but Lawrence of Arabia remains one of the definitive blockbuster experiences in Hollywood history, and it’s well worth the time to see it in a theater.
11:30 a.m. Aug. 7-9 at the Belcourt
2102 Belcourt Ave.
