“The tomato: a uniter, not a divider! Bringing together fruits and vegetables.” East Nashville’s quirky, popular, longtime art festival inspired by the beloved nightshade is back this year, bigger and better than ever before. Located in the historic Five Points neighborhood, the Tomato Art Fest is a two-day event filled with music, food, art pieces and everything tomato. The festival began in 2003 with just tomato art being showcased, but since then the wacky tradition has blossomed into an outsized, only-in-Nashville community affair. To go along with all the fun and fresh tomato-themed art, there will be a multitude of tomato-based contests. Some of the most popular events include the Tomato Costume Contest; the Biggest, Littlest and Ugliest Tomato contests; bobbing for tomatoes; and the tomato toss. The event is free to all, and all ages are welcome to join in on the fun.
