The biggest local show of the 2026 art calendar will be the In Her Place exhibition opening at the Frist Art Museum at the end of January. Before that sprawling display of notable Nashville women artists takes over, Tinney Contemporary — a gallery with its own notable artists in the Frist show — has organized an epic exhibition of its own to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Tinney is the last of the flagship commercial art galleries that established Nashville’s Fifth Avenue arts district. Founder Susan Tinney’s showroom was a highlight of the original downtown art crawl, and the gallery has consistently appealed to collectors while also offering experimental installations and challenging content to keep gallerygoers guessing. TINNEY/20 is a varied multimedia group show featuring painting, photography and sculpture from 50 artists who’ve exhibited with Tinney over the past two decades.
Opening reception 2 p.m.; through Feb. 14 at Tinney Contemporary
237 Rep. John Lewis Way N.
