Few artists write songs that fit as perfectly against the backdrop of a sticky-hot night in July like Kurt Vile, who brings his collection of laid-back rock ’n’ roll tunes to the Ryman Auditorium this week for a one-night show alongside his trusted band The Violators. Vile — a Pennsylvania native known for his take on country-ish and folk-ish indie rock that captures wry truths in everyday observations — tours this summer in support of Philadelphia’s Been Good to Me, a 12-song collection that he cut at a home studio in Philadelphia. Earlier this year, Vile described the release as “my best vocal record. It’s my best electric guitar record. It’s my most organic record, made in the comfort of my own zone.” Listeners can hear the result on songs like “Zoom 97” — a Todd Snider-like ode to those moments when you take an aimless drive in your car — and “Chance to Bleed,” a riffy rumination on long nights with rock music. Texas band Being Dead opens the show.
