Jim Messina

Jim Messina’s fingerprints are all over the history of popular music in the ’60s and ’70s. The singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer was a member of the fabled folk-rock band Buffalo Springfield, which earned him induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. He was co-founder of the trailblazing Southern California country-rock outfit Poco and half of the hit-making duo Loggins and Messina. Backed by his band The Roadrunners — Jim Frazier on keys, Ben King on bass, Steve Nieves on saxes and percussion and Jack Bruno on drums — the rock legend brings his 2026 tour to City Winery Friday night. Fans can expect to hear a healthy helping of the best-known music from across his storied career, especially from his Loggins and Messina days. Messina, who has lived in Franklin since 2018, is looking forward to the show. “Performing in Nashville is always special, because myself and my band all live in and around Nashville,” he tells the Scene. “Our wives and family never really get a chance to see us perform, so it’s a special treat for us to come and perform at City Winery.”
