A versatile recording artist, actor and educator, Piper Jones is a familiar face within the city’s busy arts scene. Local theater lovers have no doubt seen her onstage with Nashville Rep, Nashville Children’s Theatre, Street Theatre, Studio Tenn and more. More recently, she’s been busy performing with the popular Off Broadway series at Analog at Hutton Hotel. You can catch up with her this weekend as Nashville Jazz Workshop presents Broadway Reimagined: An Evening With Piper Jones. Promising a program that blends Golden Age standards of the musical theater canon with bold, contemporary jazz vibes, Jones will be serving up a few of her favorite songs from shows like Oklahoma!, West Side Story, Wicked, Waitress and more. Plus, she’ll also be singing her new single “Move On” from Sunday in the Park With George. Accompanied by the marvelous Alex Murphy on keys, Jones describes her approach as “Robert Glasper-style harmonic reinvention, sitting alongside the fearless storytelling of Cécile McLorin Salvant.” But whatever you want to call it, NJW audiences are in for a treat.
