A lot of us have intentions and goals we want to meet in the new year. I’ve set the tone for my 2026 with two broad goals: to create more as a way of enriching my sense of creativity and combating endless scrolling, and to participate more in my community. The perfect way to combine both these goals is by joining an arts tutorial at The Forge. This week, The Forge is hosting a beginner-friendly crochet lesson and providing all the materials needed, including a pattern book, yarn, hooks and needles. Everyone will leave with a completed crochet dishcloth after some practice stitches and instruction from a pro. The Forge provides space for artists of all experience levels working in mediums ranging from welding and woodworking to fiber arts, painting and printmaking, encouraging collaboration, offering studio and gallery spaces, and hosting classes and workshops for the greater community to learn a new skill or art practice. If you want to learn a new skill but crochet isn’t your medium, check out theforgenashville.org for other upcoming workshops and take steps toward your creative goals.
