In a little phone chat with conservative pundit Rich Lowry, Sen. Bob Corker, "the impressive Republican freshman from Tennessee," threw down on the president, AARP, the health care overhaul and cap-and-trade legislation. Anything else bothering you, senator? Obama "personalizes everything," Corker says. With the president, he says, "it's all 'I, I, I.' " Health care reform is "about a political victory, not about doing what's in the long-term interest of citizens." According to Corker, AARP is a "shill for the Democrats" as it "throws its constituents under the bus" to give cover for a plan that "has nothing to do with seniors" and "hurts seniors." As for fighting climate change, he'd rather build 100 nuclear plants. The "bloom is coming off" cap-and-trade and he's optimistic about stopping it in the Senate.
