SMASHVILLE! WE DID IT! On Sunday the Nashville Predators made franchise history by advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the FIRST TIME EVER. IT IS SO EXCITING!!!
For the first two rounds of the playoffs, Smashville has kicked off each home game by bringing in some of Nashville's brightest stars to sing the National Anthem, with an impressive roster boasting appearances from Carrie Underwood (who, you know, has more than a little interest in this team), Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Lady Antebellum and more. And one could argue the tradition has brought the team some luck — the Preds have yet to lose a home game in the postseason.
Now that the team has secured their place in Round 3 (the first team in the 2017 playoffs to do so!), we now know there are at least two more home games (and hopefully more after that, as the Preds — fang fingers crossed — advance to the Stanley Cup Finals). So who's going to perform the National Anthem? Let's speculate!
Dierks Bentley, an avid Preds fan, still hasn't done the honors, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him pop up in the mix at some point. Or maybe Jack White will come out and shred the anthem on his guitar like Hendrix at Woodstock? So far it's been mostly country artists — we need some rock and roll! Of course the most beloved person Smashville could snag, the singer that'd make everyone's butts fall off is ... DOLLY PARTON. COULD YOU IMAGINE?!? I bet Manuel would even agree to add some shimmer to a jersey for her. God, that'd be amazing.
Or maybe Taylor Swift will return to her Nashville roots to give the Preds a boost? (Just keep your hands off my Arvi, Taylor. [JK, I am married and he seems nice — go for it.]) It'd also be awesome to see Kesha get up there. The one person I will not allow is Steven Tyler. I just will not. You are too thirsty, sir. Stick to selling boots at The Mall at Green Hills.
Who do you want to see singing for Smashville?
