Each autumn, songsmith extraordinaire Tim Easton makes a new recording to raise awareness and funds for a great cause. That’s Nashville nonprofit SAFPAW, aka Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare, which helps people in poverty or experiencing homelessness and their pets.
In years past, Easton has recruited a slew of friends and associates to cover one Bob Dylan classic or another — back in 2020, he had to go solo for “Spanish Harlem Incident.” This time out, he’s cooked up an original song with The Wood Brothers’ Oliver Wood co-writing. “Delores” is a jaunty folk-tinged tune about the persistence of love despite ever-evolving circumstances, as the pair sing on the refrain, which changes a little every time it comes around: “I know we don't see eye to eye sometimes / And we go toe to toe all right / I just want you home tonight.”
Brook Sutton produced the recording, which also features bassist Ted Pecchio (known for his work with Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks) on bass and The Wood Brothers’ Jano Rix on drums and organ. Head over to Bandcamp through the embed below to purchase the track — all of those proceeds go to SAFPAW. Or, simply make a donation to SAFPAW and enjoy the above video by Alaskan filmmaker Emily Niebuhr, which we’re very pleased to premiere today. It features an adventurous pup traversing the beautiful Northern wilderness. Keep an eye on Easton’s Instagram profile for more.
