Nashville Originals Extend Restaurant Week Through the End of the Month

Can you imagine what last week's blizzard might have been like before social media made it possible to pretty much speak directly with the management of any restaurant to see if they were open or not during the inclement weather? Between Facebook and Twitter, hopefully Bitesters didn't encounter too many surprises if they ventured out for food and drink over the weekend. We trudged through the shin-deep snow to Chago's for a Friday lunch that turned into a fiesta as the joint was filled with raucous Belmont kids with a day off and apparently IDs that said they were 21+.

But between Wednesday's warm-up cool down and Friday's epic precipitation, the bad weather couldn't have come at a worse time for the group of independent restaurants that were in the midst of celebrating Nashville Originals Restaurant Week. It's normally a time to highlight some of the fixtures who have been contributing to the restaurant scene in town for a long time. Instead, they were cursed with sparsely populated dining rooms and early closings just when we all should have been packing them out.

So the member restaurants of the Nashville Originals have decided to take Snowmageddon and make snow cream out of it. Over the weekend, the group decided to extend Restaurant Week for another six days, through the end of January. As of Sunday, more than 20 Nashville Originals had agreed to continue offering the special prix-fixe deals that they had established for the Restaurant Week, and more are signing up every day.

If you'd like to see the latest list of who is participating in this extended deal, check the Originals website. You can also check out the individual menus of each restaurant at that site. You know you've got cabin fever after last week, so make it a point to eat out at least a couple of times this week and help out some of the seminal restaurants that contribute to the dining environment of It City.
