Hello, Bites aficionados. It's your new correspondent, Chris
Chamberlain. You may have seen me lurking around the Bites comments as
CeeElCee. I make no apologies for the dimwitted handle but offer the
fact that it harkens back to an ancient AOL login as a testament to the
length of my tenure in the online world. I am very pleased that
Carrington and Nicki have invited me to step out from behind the
pseudonym and go completely cognito here.
When I told a friend I
was considering the gig, she asked, "Are you going to replace Lee
Stabert?" Considering she is attractive, young and enthusiastic,
probably not. But do I think I can consume some bandwidth and offer
Bites readers my insights into the Nashville Foodie Scene? Heck yeah,
I can do that. I'll also make an ignorant admission about Lee: for the
first few months she was blogging for Bites, I thought she was a gay
man.
[Insert Seinfeld "not that there's anything wrong with that" reference here]
In
my defense, she did have a unisex first name, was unmarried, lived in a
charming part of East Nashville, liked to eat in precious little
bistros and kept referring to her regular dining partner as
"companion." Upon reflection, you can substitute "Hillsboro Village"
for "East Nasty" in the previous sentence, and you'll pretty much have
me nailed. So maybe I can replace her, the same way that
Steven Wright said he had the ax that George Washington used to cut
down the cherry tree. He just had to replace the handle. And the
head. But it occupies the same space, intrinsically.
What I really want to replace is her standing reservation at City House. Tandy, table for 2?
