Anthony Bourdain and Third Man Records' Ben Swank at Duke's
"I really want to shoot an episode of Parts Unknown in Nashville next season," celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain told our own Chris Chamberlain back in June. "We'll be soliciting local feedback for advice on where to go."
Well, love him or hate him, you have to admit the famously outspoken Bourdain is a man of his word. All week long, he's been spotted — with a production crew in tow — at various restaurants and watering holes across the city. While Bourdain's CNN travel-and-food series has taken him all over the world, from Tokyo to Madagascar and beyond, the closest Bourdain has ever come to Music City for a Parts ep before now is the Mississippi Delta (or Charleston, S.C., whichever's closer).Â
So, where have Bourdain & Co. checked in so far this week?Â
Sunday, March 6: The Patterson House
According to one fan, Bourdain kicks off the week at The Patterson House — though the best shot she manages to snap is of the Parts Unknown crew filming some B-roll.
Monday, March 7: Dino's
Bourdain and his old chum, fellow celeb chef Sean Brock, film a segment at Dino's, an East Side spot recently christened by yours truly as the best relaunched bar in Nashville.
Monday, March 7: Edgefield
Bourdain & Co. roll from Dino's down to Edgefield (recently named an excellent East Side dive by yours truly), where they film a bit and snap some pics with fans — and no doubt have a run-in or two with some late-night East Nashville bar goblins.
Tuesday, March 8: Duke's
Duke's — recently named Best New Dive Bar by yours truly. Anybody else see a pattern developing here? Bourdain has a beer and a sandwich with Third Man Records' Ben Swank, and sandwich-maker extraordinaire Joey Scala (also frontman of excellent local Southern-hewing rock 'n' roll outfit Promised Land Sound) captures the picture you see above. I tweet about it.
Wednesday, March 9: Dandgure's
A fan surreptitiously photographs Bourdain and suggests he try the meatloaf. Could've just said that aloud, y'know.
Thursday, March 10: City House
Bourdain and his crew are spotted with Dean Fertita (The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, Queens of the Stone Age) at City House. Sounds like the chef is having a Third Man-heavy week. Think Bourdain will show up for any of local punk fest Freakin' Weekend's shows?
So, have you spotted Bourdain anywhere we haven't heard about? Let us know in the comments.
