It’s a celebratory week of eating in Nashville. Not everyone knows that Germantown Café, Park Cafe and Karrington Rowe all operate under the same corporate umbrella of Up Hospitality. To help publicize their partnership, all three restaurants are banding together Aug. 18 to 22 to present their version of Restaurant Week.
At each restaurant, the kitchen will offer a $25 prix-fixe special of one appetizer and one entrée or one entrée plus dessert during dinner. Each kitchen has come up with its own option, so at Germantown, you can pick from coconut curry salmon, roasted chicken or plum pork paired with either an app from a list of fried green tomatoes, chorizo-stuffed dates or squash fritters, or pick a dessert from cheesecake, key lime pie or a dark chocolate mousse tart.
At Park Cafe in Sylvan Park, the choices are similar — roasted chicken, salmon or shrimp-and-grits as a main, fried green tomatoes, date or hummus as apps, or desserts of that dark chocolate tart or a crème brûlée Napoleon. At Karrington Rowe in Brentwood, the kitchen has picked its choice of greatest hits from its corporate cousins. So you can choose from coconut curry shrimp, roasted chicken, or crispy salmon, tomatoes, dates or fritters, and that Napoleon, key lime pie or chocolate torte for your dessert.
Whatever you choose, that’s a heckuva deal for $25!
I’ve joked that it seems like some new Mexican restaurants order their pre-printed menus first and then figure out how to cook a No. 11 taco/burrito/enchilada combo, or a No. 13 taco/burrito/rice-and-bean deal, or a “Speedy Gonzalez” lunch special.
