I know that today may not feel like soup weather, but rest assured that Nashville’s “false spring” will soon recede and this weekend will feel more like normal late winter. Which means it’ll be a perfect day for Our Kids Soup Sunday on Sunday, March 3, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the West Club Level of Nissan Stadium.
The competition will be fierce as chefs from dozens of your favorite local restaurants ladle out their best broths and superior soups in hopes of winning the coveted People’s Choice award from more than a thousand attendees to the event. A panel of celebrities and culinary experts will also pick their best bowl after sitting in judgment over entries from all the participating super soupers.
Soup Sunday benefits Our Kids Center, a crucial local organization that provides expert medical evaluations and crisis counseling in response to concerns about child sexual abuse. One of the largest clinics of its kind in the country, Our Kids has evaluated more than 30,000 children over its 35-plus years of service and provides 24/7 coverage to 47 Middle Tennessee counties.
Chefs come up with new ideas each year, but to give you an idea about what sort of creative choices you’ll be able to sample this Sunday, here's the list of last year's winner's:
