Sarabhas' strawberry and saffron ice cream
Regular readers likely know two things about me: 1. I believe ice cream solves almost every problem; and 2. All things being equal, I prefer not to cross the river from the East Side. So it was a very, very good day for me when I learned that Sarabha’s Creamery, Midtown’s Indian ice cream standout, is joining the restaurants opening at Lost and Found in Inglewood.
Lost and Found is the soon-to-open food truck park/open-air restaurant hub opening at McGavock and Gallatin pikes at the end of this week. (Stay tuned for more details in the March 26 issue of the Scene.) The Lost and Found team had been posting on social media that they were looking for an ice cream vendor to join their collection of pizza, coffee and international eats. Several of Sarabha’s Creamery’s current customers came in the shop on 21st Avenue South, post in hand, and suggested that Sarabha’s Creamery go east, says co-owner Gursharan Singh.

Singh and his wife Manpreet Gill own the ice cream shop, which also serves chai and kulfi (ice cream on a stick), all made with traditional ingredients. They hadn’t been looking to open a second location — but when opportunity knocks, you open the door.
“We liked all the different foods from different regions that they are going to have, and we thought it would be a good fit for us,” Singh says.
Lost and Found is planning a soft opening this weekend, and Singh and Gill will be there in a “coming soon” capacity. They just signed the lease and will be pulling permits and building the small shop, hoping to open in the next month or two. Like all the Lost and Found vendors, the shop will be small, without any seating inside, but with plenty of communal seating outside.
They will continue to make ice cream at the 21st Avenue South location. The East Side menu will be the same as the current shop, Singh says, so I don’t even have to change my regular order: kesar pista (saffron and pistachio) and Indian coffee.
