One of my favorite things about Henrietta Red chef-owner Julia Sullivan is that she’s often game to try something new just to mix things up. Every now and then, she’ll schedule a lunch service in addition to her regular dinner and brunch schedule, especially if it’s for a good cause like her collaborations with Josh Habiger. She’s done a few of those events under the umbrella “Power Lunch,” and it’s time for another edition.
On Friday, Aug. 22, Sullivan will welcome her former culinary school compatriot, and Top Chef All Stars champion Melissa King, into the kitchen at Henrietta Red for a collaborative four-course lunch in advance of King’s upcoming cookbook Cook Like a King. If you watched either of Chef King’s two seasons on the Bravo culinary competition show, you know she’s a beast in the kitchen. In fact, she holds the record for most challenge wins in the series.Â
She’s also known as a tireless advocate for LGBTQ youth and Asian culture, and her cookbook and the menu for the Power Lunch will showcase her Cantonese heritage along with her classic French/Italian kitchen skills. Beverage pairings will be available for purchase to complement the menu, and because it will be a prix-fixe situation, the kitchen politely declines any substitutions.
